Holcomb Fire Officials Seek Public’s Assistance

Forest Service Press Release, SAN BERNARDINO, California, June 21, 2017

Forest Service Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance to help establish the cause of the Holcomb Fire which started on Monday June 19, 2017.

Anyone who may have been in or around the area of the Pacific Crest Trail near Holcomb Valley Road north of Highway 18 or the Doble Trail Camp between 6:00 pm on Saturday June 17 and 3:05 pm Monday, June 19th, please call (909) 382-2699.

Heat Advisory in effect June 17 – June 21

National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Saturday June 17 through Wednesday June 21, and possibly longer. High temperatures in the valleys are forecasted to be in the 100s, and even at 6500 feet elevation, the forecast is for the low to mid 90s. If you plan to be on the mountain this week, carry water and a filter, know your water sources, take breaks in the shade, and know the symptoms of and remedy for heat stress.

Make a difference and join other volunteers to restore the Mill Creek recreation area to its beautiful and natural condition.  Join SGWA at the Thurman Flats Picnic Area, Saturday June 3, 9 am to 1 pm.

Please bring sturdy shoes, sunscreen, gloves and a smile!
