September 30 is National Public Lands Day

Celebrate something we all share: National Public Lands! Saturday September 30 is National Public Lands Day, and is a “fee free” day – no Adventure Pass or other fee needed for any of the Federal public lands. Come out and enjoy YOUR public lands.

Do you know the 10 essentials every hiker should have?  Are you prepared if something happens on your hike, or you get lost?

Tony is an experienced hiker who took a wrong turn on Mt. Baldy, had to activate his PLB and was found by West Valley Search and Rescue. Ed Nemeth, a SGWA volunteer and WVSAR member, was part of the team that got Tony out safely.

Tony wants everyone to know that the unthinkable CAN happen. Look at his video and think about what you would do.

Mill Creek Summer Hours end after Labor Day

Mill Creek Visitor Center normally shifts our Weekend hours from Memorial Day to Labor Day. We are on the last weekend of our Summer Office Hours schedule. Saturday 9/2 and Sunday 9/3 we will open at 7:00 AM and close at 3:30 PM.

Following Labor Day, Saturday 9/9 and Sunday 9/10 our office hours will be the same as Monday, Thursday and Friday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
