I understand the road may be rough to travel with a passenger car. Is there a parking area next to Jenks Lake Road or some other place I can park and then walk to the trail head?

Great choice for a hike! My Toyota Corolla can make it up the road, although there are washed-out areas so you need to go slowly and carefully. There is a parking area at the turnoff to the Forsee road, in front of the private camp, and it appears that it is ok to park there for hiking- I don’t see signs saying you can’t park there. You could at least park there and walk up the short road to the trailhead and check it out.

So if I park at that area before the trail head, how far is it to the main parking area?

      About 1/2 mile walk.

My last post won’t show up until approved because the links I posted.  Here is just the text:

There is a parking area immediately to the right as you turn off from Jenks Rd.  I’ve parked there before when there was too much snow to drive back to the trailhead.  No problems.  Other cars were parked there.

I also believe there is a parking area a little bit up and to the left of the road (may even be a sign) but I’ve never used it.

1/2 mile sounds about right for the walk to the trailhead.

Thanks for the info. I really didn’t want to take my car on a bad dirt road. I’ll walk the extra half mile or so to the trail head.

As long as it’s safe and  the car doesn’t get broken into.
