I have hiked South Fork to Dry lake several times and stayed at Lodgepole. This has worked well because I hammock vs tent. I am looking to hike up Vivian for the first time and I want to know if there are sufficient trees to hang from at High Creek?
My first hiking San G I did this and found that the trees at high creek are usually a good distance apart. As long as nobody beats you to the shady spots and you have ample length for your support straps you should be fine. Also there are lots of sap loving fire ants on the trees up there so be prepared for them to climb on your straps.
It is a nice area to camp so close to the summit, but your better hammock camps are Vivian and Half way. Either way enjoy!
