The trail goes north of Hwy 38 along the old Mountain Home Creek Rd to Angelus Oaks Community.
It can be very hot and buggy in the summer time but in the winter there is no bugs and not as much snow at trail elevation of 4000ft to 6000ft. It is about 6 miles to the Angelus Oaks Community. From there you can go to another mile or so to Angelus Oaks Lodge for a snack or to the Santa Ana River Trail or (the San Bernardino Peak Trail when the Wilderness is open again!). I recently did this trail which is part of the old Mountain Home Creek Road that follows the power lines but gives nice view above the creek. This is a San Bernardino County Road that use to go through but 2 bridges collapsed about 2 miles in which there is a short trail to get around. This is a very popular mountain bike trail but can be a very pleasant hiking trail too.
The trailhead begins from a small parking lot on Mountain Home Creek Road which is just north of Mountain Home Community across Hwy38 and just before Loch Leven Camp entrance. Currently the camp and parking are closed due to COVID! but you can park on north side of Hwy38 off the shoulder.
