Hiked up San Bernadino Peak trail to the high meadow just before Manzanita Springs yesterday. Lots of snow on the trial from the beginning, and a fair bit of powder on the switchbacks as you ascend. There are definitely a couple of places on the trail when you traverse the steeper parts of the slope where you want to be careful, but we managed it quite easily with crampons. The snow is still firm enough in most places to travel without snowshoes, and the places where it was more powdery would be tough to snowshoe with the slope/angle. There is also snow on the approach road up to the trailhead, but this was easily navigated in my Forester. Very beautiful up in that area right now so worth making the effort to get up there if you can.
