San Bernardino East Peak Trail (the trace trail 1E06.2 from Momyer Trail to San Bernardino
Peak Divide Trail) is still a good trail to get high in altitude with less snow. On Nov 11 SGWA Trail Crew removed about 21 down trees from the first mile of 1E06.2 making it a clear path through an old burn area. This trail is on the sunny south facing slope that doesn’t hold the snow very well until the higher elevations. The trail 1E06.2 junctions starts at 7300ft after 3 miles from the Momyer Trailhead at 5500ft and continues for 4 miles to the San Bernardino Divide ridge at 10500ft.

As long it doesn’t snow to low in elevation this should be a good alternative trail to access the San Bernardino Peak Divide ridge with less snow until nearing the top.

Also there is no bridge at the stream crossing at the start of Momyer Trailhead so please exercise extreme caution and it is recommended that you do not cross when the water level is high. NEVER CROSS A FAST MOVING CREEK!

Note there is no water after the beginning stream crossing except by detouring 1.4 miles there and back to Alger Creek.
