I am planning an overnight trip for my group of paramedics Nov 9-10th. We are departing South Fork and overnight camp is at Dollar Lake unless I hear of a better option. Can anyone advise of water sources on that route..? Last year I searched for Lodgepole Spring and couldn’t find it but had plenty of water from the cross-trail spring about a mile before Dollar Lake.
I replied with a link to a picture i took last Thursday of that spring just before the turnoff for dollar lake but it never posted.
It’s there, and there’s plenty of water in the little trail-side pool. you’ll have an easier time of it of you have a filter with a pump. Would be hard to fill bottles directly from the puddle.
There was a good bit of snow at higher elevations, which may well still be around in shady pockets, so you could melt that too. A week ago, it was mostly above 9,500 ft. Plenty on Charlton and Little Charlton.
