So much melt in the last month!  Never used micros at all.  The lake is half melted with lots of water.  Lodgepole spring running well!  Camp area was busy but everyone respectfully keeping their camps away from others.  Sat. was a cool wet night but otherwise weather was gorgeous all weekend!  The ducks are taking advantage of the Dry Lake melt and the coyotes are running as usual!  Only patchy snow in Lodgepole area.  Gulch all clear of snow.  Headed over to south of the lake by main trail then vertical up to Zahniser.  That way we were able to do the entire ascent in snowshoes.  The snow is at it’s season end.  It’s snirt and later in the day very slushy.  There were no other tracks to Zahniser so we broke trail but it was about 1pm so a lot of postholing even in snowshoes.

      Thank you for this!

Did you take the switch backs up to dry lake or the winter route still?

The winter route is pretty much bare of all snow.  So the switchbacks it was.
