Took Mika out to Middle Fork Trail today. Had plans on going to Icehouse Saddle and maybe Cucamonga Peak. Unfortunately there was a rough section of the road about a mile in that I didn’t think my Crosstrek would get through. About a bit of plotting and scheming, I ended up parking in an open area on the side of the road a little before that spot and walked the 1.75 miles to the trailhead.
That walk added an hour+ and 3.5 miles to our day so we ended up going down to the Stone House Camp and up to Third Stream Crossing.
About 9.5 miles total. A little snow here and there. No need for any microspikes or crampons etc, just be careful of those spots as they are a bit slippery.
