–was able to park in the lower parking lot (the drive in has uncleared ice, so 4×4 advisable}. If the gate is locked, I’m informed the nearest parking is Momyer Creek Trail.
–up to High Camp was fine with mini crampons
–After that, the switchbacks and beyond has deep snow so snowshoes pretty much mandatory
–made it up to the ridge which gives you the first glimpse of the top
–I think I was the only one on the trail. Nice bluebird day. Worth the extra drive to get true alpine conditions. Plenty of water (besides the obvious meltable snow).
