Interested in doing a 1-2 night backpack trip next week from the South Fork trailhead to Dry Lake –> San Gorgonio Peak –> Dollar Lake and wondering what water is available as of this month, September. Would greatly appreciate your insight!

Always lots of water running at South Fork Meadows. Small spring still running at Dollar Lake last reported about 1.5 weeks ago. Also worth knowing that there is still water flowing at High Meadow Springs. It is out of your way, but not too far from Dollar Lake Saddle. Could be worth a short side trip if you get too low on the way back from the peak. If you choose to do the loop and come back via Dry Lake, Lodgepole spring is still flowing on the East side of the lake. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info, that helps a lot…I’m doing the same hike on Sept 25th – anyone know how cold it might get for sleeping around 9-10K feet? Really appreciate any water/weather updates over the next few weeks¬† – thanks again!

Check mountain-forecast.com for estimated temps.  I would use 10 degrees colder than what they say just to be safe. Choose San Gorgonio and look down for the elevation of Dry Lake (about 9,000 feet)

Headed up end of next week. Think they’ll still be water at Lodgepole Springs and South Fork? Thanks for any updated info – Tod
